ALEX LEAVITT BLOG, DAY TWO

SUGAR LAND, Texas - Aeros rookie center and resident comedian Alex Leavitt has agreed to be a regular contributor to Aeros.com during training camp. Leavitt was the ECHL’s Rookie of the Year in 2005-06, becoming the first rookie in 15 seasons to lead the league in scoring while helping the Alaska Aces to the Kelly Cup title. Laughs are optional. Last night was really eventful. I went to IHOP and had a breakfast, it was very exciting. I went with two Swedish guys (Henrik Ivarsson and Andre Selander), they talked in Swedish a lot, I think they were making fun of me for about half hour. They are good guys though. We’ve hung out a bit. They taught me a lot about Sweden. They say they have really good pizza. Maybe I’ll go there one day and try their pizza.

We watched TV after that. Learned about “T.O.” and all his trials and tribulations. I was wondering why publicist was over at his place that late, I bet there’s more to that than what they’re saying. You never know with that guy anyways.

Paul Albers played his guitar for me again in the hotel room. It’s a very good bonding relationship we have. He plays it for me in the room. It’s very emotional. Sometimes it puts me right to sleep. I feel our relationship getting a lot stronger.

This morning was a nice and early wakeup call, for me at least, at 8. I know most people have to be at work by then, but hockey players are pretty spoiled. I got a ride over here with a couple guys who played in Austin last year.

We’re all laying low. It’s a pretty competitive camp. We haven’t done anything too exciting away from the rink.

Tonight I’m going to try to get a cell phone down here. I’ve got a Canadian cell phone. It’s costing me $2.75 a minute I think, that’ll drain the bank account quickly. Maybe I’ll get a bank account too, maybe Wells Fargo. I got a nice plug in for them there, I think they are a sponsor of the Wild.
