AEROS BLANKED BY WOLVES 4-0

ROSEMONT, Ill.– Robert Gherson stopped all 27 shots he faced as the Chicago Wolves defeated the Houston Aeros 4-0 Saturday night at Allstate Arena. It marked the first time this season that the Aeros have been shutout. Brett Sterling had a goal and an assist and Jesse Schultz added two assists and the Wolves still have not lost a game in regulation (13-0-1-0).

Jason Krog notched his sixth goal of the season and put the Wolves up 1-0 on a power play goal at the 9:37 mark of the first period. It was a five-on-three goal with as Peter Olvecky and Brandon Rogers went to the penalty box just nine seconds apart. Krog was assisted by Steve Martins and Jesse Schultz and the goal proved to be the game winner.

The Wolves took a 2-0 lead on a shorthanded goal by Alexandre Giroux on assists from Schultz and the goaltender Gherson.
Houston outshot the Wolves 9-6 in the period but faced a two-goal deficit. The last time the Aeros had more than a one-goal deficit after one period was opening night against the Wolves in which they found themselves down 3-0 after one period.

In the second period, Houston again poured more shots on Gherson, but couldn’t solve the netminder. The Aeros had 14 shots compared to eight for Chicago and the teams skated to a scoreless second period.

Brett Sterling made it a 3-0 lead in favor of Chicago just 1:15 into the third period on assists from Jordan LaVallee and Nathan Oystrick. Finally, Joey Crabb ended the scoring at the 7:15 mark on an even-strength goal on an assist from Sterling. Chicago scored on two of their five shots in the final frame and defeated the Aeros 4-0.
