HOUSTON AEROS SWAP GOALTENDERS; ASSIGNED CLIMIE, RELEASE MUNCE
HOUSTON, Texas – The Houston Aeros General Manager Tom Lynn today announced the American Hockey League (AHL) club has been assigned goaltender Matt Climie by the Dallas Stars. The club has released goaltender Ryan Munce from his professional tryout (PTO) contract.
Climie, 26 (2/11/83), played three NHL games with the Dallas Stars this season posting a 2-1-0 record with a 2.92 goals against average (GAA) and a .894 save percentage (SV%) this season. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound native of Leduc, Alberta, Canada played 42 regular season games with the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads where he posted a 27-12-1 record with a 2.30 GAA and a .915 SV%. After his NHL stint he returned to Idaho to play in four ECHL playoff contests for a 0-4 record with a 2.41 GAA and a .924 SV%. Following his NCAA career with Bemidji State University Climie played six games with the Iowa Stars in the 2007-08 season. Climie will wear #33 with the Aeros.
Munce backed up for the Aeros since signing a PTO with the team on April 14.
