AEROS HOST MANITOBA THURSDAY, 7:05 PM AT TOYOTA CENTER

CEDAR PARK, TX –
The Houston Aeros (6-7-0-0) fell to the Texas Stars (8-2-0-2) 3-1 Sunday night in front of 4,130 in their first regular season visit to the Cedar Park Center. D Brandon Rogers scored the only goal for Houston while G Wade Dubielewicz (2-5-0) saved 26 shots in the loss. The Stars received goals from forwards Travis Morin, Greg Rallo and former Aero Mathieu Beaudoin; another former Aero, G Matt Climie (3-1-2), stopped 27 shots to earn his third win of the season.

BOXSCORE

The Aeros found themselves in penalty trouble midway through the first period when LW Robbie Earl was called for high-sticking at 9:48 which resulted in a Stars 5-on-3 power play. Houston was able to kill off both minors, however, en route to a scoreless opening frame for both sides.

In their three previous meetings the Stars had outscored Houston 7-0 in the second period and they added to that total on Sunday. Morin first batted in a rebound opportunity at 7:55 to put the Stars up 1-0. The Aeros questioned whether or not the puck was played with a high stick, but the call would stand. Just past the midway point, Rallo added the Stars second goal, and the eventual game-winner, when he stuffed home a rebound bid of his own. The Aeros responded at 11:13 with a goal off the stick of Rogers. After a turnover behind the Stars net, Rogers beat Climie top shelf for his first goal and point of the year; RW Danny Irmen was credited with the assist.

The Aeros again thwarted a 5-on-3 advantage in the third period after multiple sprawling saves by Dubielewicz. Unfortunately, the Aeros failed to gain any kind of momentum and with two seconds remaining, Beaudoin sealed the game with an empty net goal.

The Aeros were again held scoreless on the man advantage going 0-for-3 on the night, extending their scoreless streak to 38 chances. The penalty kill held strong, killing all six Stars power plays. The shots on goal were tied at 28 apiece.

The Stars extend their lead in the Lone Star Faceoff earning their 11th point (4-2-0-1) in the victory. The Aeros remain the second place contender with eight points (4-3-0-0) and the San Antonio Rampage are in third with four points (1-2-2-0). The Aeros are back at home Thursday against the defending Western Conference champion Manitoba Moose. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. at Toyota Center and the game can be heard on 1070 AM KNTH and ahllive.com.
