MONSTERS HOST AEROS SATURDAY AT 12:00 PM CST

CLEVELAND, OHIO – RW Danny Irmen and D Max Noreau each scored a goal and an assist, RW Jon DiSalvatore added three assists and G Anton Khudobin (7-2-0) made 17 saves as the Houston Aeros (9-7-0-0) defeated the Lake Erie Monsters (6-9-0-1) 6-0 Friday night in front of 5,938 at Quicken Loans Arena. C Nathan Smith, D Clayton Stoner, D Brandon Rogers and LW Petr Kalus also scored for the Aeros as 11 different players recorded a point on the night. Monsters G Tyler Weiman (4-6-0) allowed four goals on 11 shots before being replaced by Trevor Cann in the second period, Cann allowed two goals on 10 shots.

The Aeros opened up the scoring late in the first period after a roughing penalty to RW David Marshall. RW J-M Daoust and DiSalvatore set up Smith for the power-play goal at 18:24 to give the Aeros a 1-0 lead after one. Houston registered seven shots on goal held Lake Erie to just four shots in the period.

Houston opened up the game early in the second period, scoring three goals in a 6:31 span. Irmen scored his team leading sixth goal of the season at 1:39, extending his point streak to four games. Stoner extended the lead to 3-0 at 5:46 after his screened shot from the blue line found its way past Weiman. Weiman was then pulled at 8:10 of the second after Noreau scored his third goal of the season to give the Aeros a 4-0 lead. Rogers later beat Cann at 19:27 with a power-play goal as the Aeros scored four goals on nine shots in the second and entered the third period with a 5-0 lead.

The Monsters out-shot the Aeros 8-5 in the third period but it was Kalus scoring the lone goal for Houston at 12:25. The Aeros finished the game out-shooting the Monsters 21-17 on the night. Houston went 2-4 on the power-play, just the second game this season the Aeros had multiple power-play goals in a game. Lake Erie finished 0-for-4 on the power-play against the league’s top-ranked penalty kill.

Houston and Lake Erie will play Saturday at 1:00 PM at Quicken Loans Arena. The Aeros return home Sunday to host the Chicago Wolves, 4:05 PM at Toyota Center. Listen to the games on 1070 AM KNTH or at ahllive.com.
