KIDS FREE WEEKEND CONCLUDES WITH REMATCH SUNDAY

HOUSTON - G Mark Dekanich continued his dominant play over the Houston Aeros (29-30-6-4) as the Milwaukee Admirals (36-26-1-6) took a 3-1 victory in front of 6,575 at Toyota Center Saturday night. Dekanich (22-14-4) stopped 31 of 32 shots on goal for his third win in four outings this season against Houston. G Anton Khudobin (11-17-4) made 26 saves in the defeat pushing his winless streak to five games (0-3-2).

BOXSCORE

After a scoreless opening frame, the Admirals tallied the game’s first goal 13:13 into the second period. A cross-ice pass was intercepted at the Milwaukee blue line by RW Hugh Jessiman who broke into the Aeros zone with D Maxim Noreau the only man to beat. Jessiman outraced Noreau around the edge, cut through the crease and beat Khudobin for his 19th of the season.

Milwaukee extended its lead 5:56 into the third period when D Teemu Lasko jumped on a rebound in front of the Aeros cage and buried it for his second goal of the campaign. The Aeros took advantage of a 5-on-3 power play at the 10:45 mark to cut the lead in half. Noreau fired a point bid wide of the net, but RW J-M Daoust took a fortunate bounce off the end boards and beat Dekanich five-hole. The goal is Daoust’s 20th of the season passing RW Jon DiSalvatore for the club-lead. RW Ryan Maki sealed the game for Milwaukee with a goal at 18:31.

Houston outshot the Admirals 32-29 on the evening. Each side had five chances on the man advantage with the Aeros scoring the game’s lone power play marker. Houston falls to 1-5-1-0 on the season against Milwaukee as they drop below the .500 mark for the first time since Nov. 1, 2009 (6-7-0-0). Dekanich has allowed just four goals in four games against the Aeros including two shutouts.
