ENDRAS NAMED MVP OF 2010 IIHF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

HOUSTON - Minnesota Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed free agent goaltender Dennis Endras to a one-year, two-way contract.

Endras, 24 (7/14/85), was named MVP of the 2010 IIHF World Championship helping lead Germany to a fourth place finish, its highest ranking since it claimed a silver medal in 1953. He went 4-2 and led all goaltenders with a 1.15 GAA (goals against average) and a .961 SV%. Endras was also named to the World Championship All Star Team and the tournament’s Best Goaltender. He is the first German player to be named MVP of the World Championship and first player from Germany to be named to the All Star team since 1987.

The 6-foot, 168-pound native of Immenstadt, Germany, led the Augsburger Panther to the finals of the German Hockey League in 2009-10 posting a 28-24 record with a 3.28 GAA and a .905 SV% in 52 regular season contests. Endras went 8-6 with a 2.36 GAA and a .937 SV% in 14 playoff matches. He was also named to Germany’s 2010 Olympic team but did not see game action. Endras was named the Rookie of the Year in 2009 posting a 26-24 record with a 3.05 GAA, a .905 SV% and six shutouts in 50 games.
