AEROS POSTGAME REPORT
FEB. 25: HOU 5, TEX 2

CEDAR PARK, Tex. ---  Jeff Taffe scored twice, Chad Rau registered a goal and two assists and David McIntyre scored a penalty shot goal as the Houston Aeros edged the Texas Stars 5-2 Saturday at the Cedar Park Center.

Matt Hackett made 21 saves for the Aeros, who are now 26-17-3-9 overall. The win helped Houston maintain the No. 5 spot in the AHL's Western Conference playoff race.

Taffe scored his 11th goal of the season 1:18 into the opening period on assists from Rau and Jon DiSalvatore. His second goal of the game and 12th of the season at the 7:37 mark of the second period stood up as the game-winner.

After Brenden Dillon tied the game for Texas at 8:39 of the first period, Kyle Medvec's tally 2:47 into the second period regained the Houston lead. It was the first pro goal for the rookie defenseman.

Rau scored 42 seconds into the third period, and McIntyre converted for Houston's first penalty shot goal in over a year to make it a 5-1 game.

Colton Sceviour scored with 2:09 left in the game for the Stars.

The Aeros continue their franchise-record 11-game road trip at San Antonio next Saturday at 7 p.m. The team returns home March 10 against Grand Rapids at 7:35 p.m. at Toyota Center.

David McIntyre's penalty shot goal was the first for Houston since Feb. 11, 2011, when Colton Gillies scored against Jake Allen at Peoria... Justin Fontaine has points in five straight games (1-7=8) and points in seven of his last nine games (1-10=11)... Jon DiSalvatore has points in seven of the last eight games (5-3=8) and 12 of the last 14 games (7-6=13)... Jeff Taffe's two goals marked his first multi-goal game of the season and his team-leading 11th multi-point game... David McIntyre's two points (1-1=2) marked his fifth multi-point game of the season.
