AEROS ADD SEAN LORENZ TO ROSTER
HOUSTON --- Houston Aeros General Manager Jim Mill today announced that defenseman Sean Lorenz has signed an amateur tryout contract (ATO) with the team for the remainder of the 2011-12 season, as well as an AHL contract for the 2012-13 season. The Aeros are the primary affiliate of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Minnesota Wild.
Lorenz, 22 (3/10/90), is a 6-foot-1, 207-pound defenseman who recently completed an NCAA career at the University of Notre Dame. The Littleton, Colo., native was drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the fourth round (115th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
In four seasons at Notre Dame, Lorenz skated in 157 games and posted 34 points (9-25=34) along with 78 penalty minutes (PIM). Lorenz served as the team captain during his senior season and was named the CCHA Defensive Defenseman of the Year in the 2010-11 campaign. Prior to Notre Dame, Lorenz played two seasons with the U.S. National Development Team in Ann Arbor, Mich. He will wear sweater No. 16 with the Aeros.
The Aeros begin a four-game road trip tonight at Rockford against the IceHogs at 7:05 p.m.
