The Aeros continue a four-game road trip with the first of two straight games in Manitoba. Houston took three of four points from the Moose in Houston earlier this month, losing 3-2 in a shootout but then winning 3-2 in regulation two days later. That victory snapped a six-game Houston winless streak (0-5-0-1) in the series. The Aeros have lost three straight in Winnipeg, including both games last season at the new MTS Centre. Manitoba won 8-1 and 2-0 on home ice last March.

FRI, at MTB, 7:30 p.m.
Houston is 36-19-10-1 all-time versus the Moose, but just 10-10-1-1 since entering the AHL. The Aeros are 17-10-5-0 all-time on the road in the series. Houston last won in Winnipeg on January 30, 2004, a 5-2 decision.

SAT, at TOR, 6 p.m.
This will be the first-ever meeting between Houston and Toronto, leaving Albany, Binghamton, Hamilton, Hershey, Lowell, Portland and Springfield as the lone franchises that Houston has never faced in the regular season. The Aeros have played Hamilton and Hershey in the post-season, and they have their first regular-season meeting with Hamilton in December.

Notables –

Houston is 13-4-1-1 for an AHL-best 28 points, although Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (13-0-1-0=27) has five games in hand. The Aeros’ .737 points percentage is second-best in the league behind the Penguins (.964 pct.). No other Western Conference team has more than 19 points.

Houston’s five-game winning streak ties a season-high and is one shy of Milwaukee’s six-game run for the best current streak in the AHL. The Aeros’ last six-game winning streak was from December 5-17, 2003. The Aeros are also unbeaten in regulation in their last seven (6-0-0-1), the first time they’ve done that since a 3-0-4-0 run from December 20, 2003-January 2, 2004. Houston’s last run longer than seven was a memorable 11-0-2-0 streak from December 21, 2002-January 15, 2003, during its Calder Cup championship season.

The Aeros have 13 wins in their first 19 games, tying the 1998-99 Turner Cup team for the second most in team history. The 2002-03 Calder Cup winning team won 14 of its first 19.

The Aeros’ seven home wins are tied for the most in the AHL, and their six road wins are one behind Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s league-leading total.

The Aeros are a league-best 8-1-1-1 in one-goal games. No other team has more than six such victories.

D Erik Reitz has assists in four straight games, both a new career-high and new team season-high. The four-game point streak is also a new career-high.

Aeros RW Kirby Law has played in all 99 regular-season games since joining the Aeros. He bettered Mark Freer’s consecutive games played streak of 97 for the franchise record last week.

C Erik Westrum leads the AHL in points with 27 (8-19=27). He had his six-game point streak snapped Sunday and leads the circuit in assists. RW Kirby Law is fourth in scoring with 21 points (9-12=21), while rookie LW and linemate Roman Voloshenko is tied for eighth with 18 points (12-6=8). Voloshenko’s point total ranks him first among all AHL rookies, and his 12 goals are tied for the lead. Voloshenko carries a five-game point streak into the week. Defensively, Kurtis Foster has an AHL-best 15 points (4-11=15), while Curtis Murphy ranks second among blueliners with 14 points (2-12=14).

Houston has won each of its first four games against Omaha. The Aeros’ longest winning streak to open a franchise series history is five, versus San Antonio.

Wednesday: Roman Voloshenko tallied a goal and an assist, Erik Westrum also scored and Josh Harding made 18 saves, as the streaking Houston Aeros knocked off the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights 2-1 at Toyota Center.

Friday: Twenty-year-old rookie Patrick O’Sullivan notched his first career two-goal game, and Clayton Stoner, Rem Murray and Voloshenko also scored, as the Houston Aeros knocked off the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights 5-1 at Toyota Center. Harding made 29 saves for the Aeros.

Saturday: Twenty-year-old Peter Olvecky forced overtime with a goal early in the third period and the 19-year-old Voloshenko also scored and added the deciding shootout tally, as the Houston Aeros rallied for a 4-3 victory over the San Antonio Rampage at Toyota Center. Petr Taticek also scored and Seamus Kotyk made 25 saves plus four-of-five in the shootout for Houston.

Sunday: Harding made 34 saves, and Curtis Murphy, Murray and Josh Olson each scored third-period goals, as the Houston Aeros rallied to defeat the San Antonio Rampage 3-1 at SBC Center for their fifth straight win.
