Cam Stewart rejoins organization
HOUSTON, Texas Cam Stewart, a member of both of the Aeros championship teams, has joined the organization as a special assistant to hockey, the team announced Thursday. Stewart played for Houstons 1999 IHL Turner Cup team, and was an assistant coach for the Aeros when they claimed the 2003 AHL Calder Cup.
Stewart will assist the Aeros in many facets, making community appearances and speaking engagements on behalf of the team, and helping out on the hockey operations side as well. Stewart, who is in the real estate business in Houston, is scheduled to serve as color commentator on the Aeros opening night broadcast Friday. He has attended most of the Aeros training camp practices at the Sugar Land Ice & Sports Center.
Stewart played the 1997-98 and 1998-99 seasons with Houston and was a member of the Minnesota Wilds inaugural team in 2000-01 before retiring due to a concussion after nine pro seasons. He served full time as an assistant coach with the Aeros in 2002-03 and 2003-04.
Stewart ranks 10th on the teams all-time list in goals (54) and 18th in points (107). |
