The Aeros have internships in several categories, including sales, marketing/public relations and charities.

Ticket Sales Intern
Aeros ticket interns will be trained on creating marketing plans, qualifying customers, sales techniques, and sales closing methods. Goals will be set and a game plan will be established to help interns achieve and surpass goals. The intern program is designed to focus on advance sales in a fun and exciting environment. Interns completing the program will have practical experience that will give them the competitive advantage on other applicants when applying for positions in the industry. In the sports industry 65% of all positions are in ticket sales.

In addition to receiving class credit, interns are also paid a weekly stipend and commissions. Students wishing to apply for the internship should click here.

Community Program Internship
Aeros Community Program interns will be trained on creating relationships with schools and partners in the Houston community. Interns will work closely with schools to help organize and create a successful outing at an Aeros game. In the process interns will learn valuable sales techniques and sales closing methods. Goals will be set and a game plan will be established to help interns achieve and surpass goals.

The Houston Aeros require 20-40 hours per week in the office.

In addition to receiving class credit through the Houston Aeros intern program, interns are paid a weekly stipend and commissions. In addition, interns can earn additional bonuses by winning contests or reaching various sales levels determined by Aeros sales managers. Amateur Hockey Program Internship
Amateur Hockey Program interns will be trained on creating relationships with local rinks, team managers and partners in the Houston community. Interns will work closely with Amateur Hockey to help organize and create a successful outing at an Aeros game. In the process interns will learn valuable sales techniques and sales closing methods. Goals will be set and a game plan will be established to help interns achieve and surpass goals.

The Houston Aeros require 20-40 hours per week in the office.

Marketing and Game Operations Internships
Marketing; Game Operations, and Community Relations interns are responsible for assisting each department carry out day to day duties during the regular and off seasons. Eligible candidates will receive college credit along with working knowledge of sports marketing. Internships are required to last a minimum of six (6) weeks and a maximum of 12 weeks and are unpaid.
The following responsibilities are a guideline to help you understand the position.

  • Work with marketing department to set up appearances
  • Work with advertising department to maintain media schedules
  • Participate on all location grass roots marketing
  • Distribute marketing materials at all appearances
  • Work with marketing department on all season related campaigns
  • Responsible for set up and tear down off all mascot entertainment team appearances.
  • Work with marketing department to set up appearances for players and mascot teams
  • Work with advertising department to maintain radio/TV media schedules
  • Work with marketing department on all season related campaigns
  • Game night duties, helping setting and breakdown of Aeros “fun zone”
  • Managing concourse and “fun zone” on game night
  • Help with all in-arena promotions and activities
  • Research marketing activities of all teams in the American Hockey League
  • Research companies for companies for future promotional items.

    Houston Aeros Charities/Community Relations Intern
    The Houston Aeros Charities/ Community Relations intern is responsible for assisting each department carry out day to day duties during the regular and off seasons. Eligible candidates will receive college credit along with working knowledge of sports marketing. Internships are required to last a minimum of six (6) weeks.

    The position will be responsible for (and not limited to) the following:
  • Coordinate all donation requests
  • Assist in coordinating fundraising events
  • Develop databases for all requests and events
  • Coordinate “Tickets for Kids” program
  • Game day/night activities
  • Auctions
  • In-game announcements
  • Promotions-Chuck a Puck
  • Coordination of caused based drives. ie., toy drive, food drive etc,.
  • Develop and execute community relations initiative; school/hospital visits etc.,
  • Work with marketing department on all season related campaigns
  • Assist with marketing and sales department as needed
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Microsoft, PowerPoint, Excel knowledge is an asset
  • Flexible hours
