ERIK WESTRUM RECALLED BY MINNESOTA
SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled center Erik Westrum from the American Hockey Leagues (AHL) Houston Aeros.
Westrum, 26 (7/26/79), appeared in eight games with Minnesota this season after being recalled on March 20, but he was reassigned on April 7. The Minneapolis, Minnesota-native registered two penalty minutes, 10 shots on goal and averaged 11:09 of ice-time with the Wild. He has collected two points (1-1=2) in 23 career NHL contests with the Phoenix Coyotes and Minnesota.
Westrum ranks tied for second in the AHL in scoring with 96 points (33-63=96). His 63 assists trail only teammate Kirby Laws total of 66 for the top spot in the AHL. Westrum earned First Team All-AHL honors last week.
The Aeros play their final regular season home game Friday at 7:35 p.m. against Omaha. Houston is just two points behind first-place Milwaukee, with three games left, and a game in hand on the Admirals.
