It’s 80’s Night, presented by KHPT, 106.9 The Point. “The Lost Boys” 80’s cover band will perform.
The Aeros begin a four-game homestand against Hamilton in a 2003 Calder Cup Finals rematch. The teams split the only two regular season meetings in franchise history, in 2005-06. Houston won 3-2 in the Toyota Center meeting on March 2. Former Aero Patrick Traverse now mans the blueline for the Bulldogs.

The Aeros went 6-4-0-0 in the 2005-06 regular season against Peoria – in its first season in the AHL. Houston went on to sweep the Rivermen in four games in the West Division Semifinals. Houston was 4-1-0-0 at home against the Rivermen in the regular season – outscoring them 23-9 in the process – and then won both home playoff games in overtime.

The homestand wraps up on Friday, Nov. 3, as the Toronto Marlies and former Aero Erik Westrum make their only trip to Houston this season. The first 3,000 fans will receive a Happy Feet movie poster.

Community events
"Skate with the Pros" is your chance to get up close and personal with 10 of your favorite Aeros! The event, held from 7-8 p.m. at Sugar Land Ice & Sports Center on Wednesday, Oct. 25, is FREE and open to the public.

Players will skate with fans and also sign autographs. Refreshments provided! Click here for a flyer about the event. The Houston Aeros are proud to announce “Afternoon with an Aero”, where area hockey fans can meet and greet a member of the team at one of four local ice rinks on Sunday, Oct. 29. The events, which include a public skate, are from 2-4 p.m., with players signing autographs from 3-4 p.m.

Tallied a goal in each of the Aeros' two games at Grand Rapids...Goal Friday was the lone Aeros' score in a 2-1 loss...Tally in Saturday's 4-3 shootout win tied the game at 1-1 in the first period...Leads Aeros with five points (4-1=5) in seven games...Ranks tied for first in goals among rookies, and tied for 15th in rookie scoring.

Notables –
  • Nine of the Aeros' 17 goals have come from rookies. Only Rochester (10 of 23) has more goals from first-year players. Aeros LW Benoit Pouliot is tied for first among all rookies with four goals.
  • Aeros G Josh Harding leads the AHL in games played (seven), minutes (404), shots faced (206) and saves (186). He left Saturday's game in the third period due to minor dehydration, but is expected to be available for this weekend's games.
  • All but one of Houston's games have been decided by one or two goals. The pair of two-goal games were essentially one goal games, plus an empty net tally.
  • Houston is one of four AHL teams to not lead after one period this season.
  • Houston defenseman Erik Reitz has pushed his Aeros penalty minute total to 498 – most in the team’s AHL history. Only three players in team history have reached the 500-PIM mark.

    Affiliation News
    The ECHL’s Texas Wildcatters split their first two games with the Florida Everblades over the weekend…D Paul Albers posted a goal and an assist, while D Mike Madill notched his first pro point, an assist…Wild contracts Mark Rooneem (two games played, no points) and Miroslav Kopriva (no games played) are also on the Wildcatters roster…F Kevin Baker, last season’s Canadian college Player of the Year, leads Texas with four points (2-2=4)…Baker attended Aeros camp last month.

    The CHL’s Austin Ice Bats won their home and season opener, 3-2 over Bossier-Shreveport on Saturday…The Ice Bats roster includes Aeros training camp invitees RW Mike Tucciarone and LW Britt Dougherty, as well as G Miguel Beaudry, who backed up Josh Harding two weeks ago in San Antonio.

    Aeros split two games
    GR 2, HOU 1; HOU 4, GR 3 (SO)

    Friday: Brendan Brooks and Ryan Oulahen scored 1:57 apart midway through the second period and Jimmy Howard made 24 saves, as the Grand Rapids Griffins held off the Houston Aeros 2-1 at Van Andel Arena.

    Rookie Benoit Pouliot scored a power play goal and Josh Harding had 37 saves for Houston.

    Saturday: Roman Voloshenko scored twice in the shootout, and Dieter Kochan replaced a dehydrated Josh Harding late in the third period and turned away Krys Kolanos in the seventh round of the shootout, as the Houston Aeros defeated the Grand Rapids Griffins, 4-3, for their first win of the season. Danny Irmen added a goal and an assist, and Josh Olson and Benoit Pouliot also scored for Houston.

    Kyle Quincey, Matt Ellis and Darryl Bootland each scored and Stefan Liv made 28 saves for Grand Rapids (3-1-1-1).
