MORGAN OUT OF WILD LINEUP INDEFINITELY
SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA - Minnesota Wild center Jason Morgan, who was called up from the Houston Aeros late last month, underwent surgery on his right thigh on Wednesday morning. The surgery was performed to relieve pressure and bleeding in the area. Morgan left the Wild's 3-1 loss on Tuesday night in San Jose after being hit against the boards by a Kyle McLaren hip check. Morgan served as an Aeros alternate captain before being recalled.
Team spokesman Aaron Sickman said that the surgery went well, and that Morgan is recovering. He is out of the lineup indefinitely. The injury is expected to require a lengthy recovery period.
The injury to Morgan leaves the Wild scrambling to find depth at the center position. With Wes Walz battling a leg injury, and Pavol Demitra playing wing, Todd White and Mikko Koivu are the only two regular centers in the current lineup. Pascal Dupuis played the position on Tuesday after Morgan left the game.
