MINNESOTA WILD SIGNS C MORTEN MADSEN TO ENTRY LEVEL CONTRACT

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed center Morten Madsen to a three-year entry level contract.

Madsen, 20 (1/16/87), notched 100 points (32-68=100), 86 penalty minutes (PIM) and a +20 rating in 62 games with the Victoriaville Tigres of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) during his first season of North American hockey in 2006-07. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound forward finished tied for first on his team in scoring, led the club with 68 assists and added eight shorthanded goals, six power play markers and five game-winning goals. Madsen ranked tied for third in the QMJHL in shorthanded goals, fifth in assists and tied for eighth in scoring. He ranked tied for first on his team in playoff scoring with nine points (3-6=9) in six postseason games. The native of Rodovre, Denmark collected one goal and four PIM in five games for Denmark at the 2007 World Championships in Moscow.

Madsen was originally selected by Minnesota in the fourth round (122nd overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
