RAMPAGE EVEN UP PRE-SEASON CONTESTS WITH 4-1 WIN OVER AEROS

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The San Antonio Rampage, behind a three-point night (2-1=3) by David Schlemko, defeated the Houston Aeros 4-1 Saturday night at the AT&T Center. Petr Kalus scored the lone goal for Houston as the teams each won at home in the home-and-home pre-season series.

The Rampage took a 1-0 lead when Schlemko split a couple of Aeros defenders in the slot and snapped a shot on net. Right wing Chad Kolarik was on the doorstep to put the rebound in over the left shoulder of Aeros goaltender Nolan Schaefer. Houston took two penalties in the period while the Rampage stayed out of the penalty box. San Antonio had the edge in shots over the Aeros at 13-7 after one period.

Houston responded early in the second period when Kalus banked the puck off the back of goaltender Josh Tordjman’s leg from behind the net at the 3:10 mark. Kalus was assisted by Josh Soares and Morten Madsen on the play. Rampage center Brad Schell gave the home team another one-goal lead just two minutes later when he capitalized on a loose puck in front of the net and notched his second point of the game (1-1=2).

San Antonio added to their lead in the third period with a pair of goals from Schlemko just 19 seconds apart in the 14th minute. With the Aeros trailing by three goals with three minutes remaining in the contest, there were three consecutive fisticuffs to end the game. All three battles were in a span of 18 seconds.

San Antonio outshot the Aeros 34-20 in the game and finished 1-5 on the power play. Houston received just two power-play opportunities and was unable to convert. It marked the final test before the Aeros 15th Anniversary Season begins on Saturday, October 11th at Toyota Center against the Chicago Wolves.
