CRUNCH COMEBACK TO BEAT AEROS 2-1

SYRACUSE, NY – The Syracuse Crunch scored two third-period goals to defeat the Houston Aeros Sunday evening 2-1 in front of 3,892 fans at War Memorial at Oncenter in Syracuse. Jonathan Sigalet and Mike York scored for Syracuse in the final frame and goaltender Dan LaCosta stopped 31 of 32 shots for the Crunch. Aeros goaltender Barry Brust stopped 34 of 36 shots marking the most saves by an Aeros’ goaltender this season. Houston is now 1-2-0-0 on the current five-game road trip and will head to Grand Rapids for a day game Tuesday at Van Andel Arena.

Box Score

The Aeros and Crunch played a tight back and forth contest until Houston’s John Lammers unlocked a 0-0 tie at the 12:48 mark of the second period. Lammers banged home a rebound as he was crashing the net and extended his scoring streak to four games. Houston held a 1-0 advantage heading into the third period despite being out shot by the Crunch 28-21 through two periods.

Syracuse took advantage of their chances in the final frame starting with Sigalet’s goal at the 10:12 mark. Sigalet streaked down the left wing and attempted a centering pass that was deflected into the Aeros goal by a Houston defender. At the 17:35 mark of the final frame, York took a pass from behind the net and buried it to give the home team a 2-1 lead. Syracuse held on for the final two minutes and won their 16th straight game at War Memorial at Oncenter dating back to last season.

Houston will head to Grand Rapids for a game Tuesday, then on to Cleveland for a game against the Lake Erie Monsters on Friday night to cap their five-game road trip. The Aeros will return home on Sunday, November 16 for a game against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at Toyota Center. For tickets call (866) GO-AEROS or visit
