“Anton gave everything he could to give us an opportunity in the game,” Head Coach Kevin Constantine said. “We had our two-on-ones and chances too and neither team converted a ton when they got scoring chances, mostly because of the goaltending.”

The Aeros had scored first in four of the six games this season but it was Lake Erie that netted the first goal of the game. Durno deflected C Phil Dupuis’ entry pass for a power play goal at 12:59 in the first period. The Aeros had started the year 25-for-25 on the penalty kill before the goal. RW Darren Haydar was credited with the second assist.

The Aeros have struggled at home in the second period, giving up nine goals leading into Wednesday’s game. Houston managed to hold Lake Erie scoreless in the middle frame; however, they were unable to light the lamp themselves. Lake Erie outshot the Aeros 10-9 in the second and killed two power plays to hold the Aeros scoreless.

Lake Erie saw the penalty box three times for six PIM in the third period, but the Aeros again were unable to put the puck in the net. Houston managed only eight shots on goal to the Monsters’ 15 and were out-shot 33-27 on the night. Lake Erie finished 1-for 3 on the power-play while the Aeros were 0-for-6.

The Aeros travel to San Antonio this Saturday for a pair of games at the AT&T Center against the Rampage. The puck drops Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and can be heard on ahllive.com. Sunday’s matinee begins at 3:00 p.m. and can be heard on 1070 AM KNTH and ahllive.com. The Aeros return home Tuesday, October 27 when the Hamilton Bulldogs visit Toyota Center for a 7:05 p.m. puck drop.
