CRACKNELL, BISHOP, LEAD RIVERMEN PAST AEROS IN OT

HOUSTON --- Adam Cracknell scored with 2:35 left in overtime as the Peoria Rivermen edged the Houston Aeros 1-0 Friday at Toyota Center.

Peoria, in the midst of a seven-game road trip, won for the sixth time in a row.

Houston's Anton Khudobin turned aside 31 shots in the loss while the Rivermen's Ben Bishop earned the shutout win with 36 saves.

Cracknell jammed the rebound past Khudobin after Dave Spina drove the net from the right side. Daryl Boyle picked up the second assist.

The Aeros were forced to kill off a late penalty with Brandon Buck dispatched to the penalty box for tripping at 15:17 of the third. Khudobin turned aside several shots with his team down a man including one from in close on Nicholas Drazenovic.

The Aeros power play, meanwhile, is scoreless in four games since going 2-for-7 in the season-opener.

"That game looked a lot more like our game is suppose to look, there's a lot of times where we were really taking it to them we were getting shifts in the offensive zone, our forecheck was really effective and the way we were creating turnovers was a lot better.  I thought we played pretty close to a complete game, but the difference between winning and losing and the details against a good team like Peoria is a fine line, " Aeros Head Coach Mike Yeo said.

Houston, which earns standings point with the overtime loss, visits the San Antonio Rampage Saturday at 7 p.m. and returns home Sunday at 4:05 p.m.  versus the Lake Erie Monsters.
