MINNESOTA WILD RECALLS CODY ALMOND FROM HOUSTON

By:
HOUSTON --- The American Hockey League’s (AHL) Houston Aeros, affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild, today announced that Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher has recalled center Cody Almond from the Aeros to Minnesota.

Almond, 21 (7/24/89), has posted five points (1-4-5) and a team-high 30 penalty minutes (PIM) in 10 games for the Aeros this season. The 6-foot-2, 217-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, scored one goal in seven games for the Wild last season as a rookie. Almond was originally selected by Minnesota in the fifth round (No. 140 overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. He wears sweater #27 with the Wild.
The Aeros (4-5-1-0, 9 points) host the Toronto Marlies Friday for a 7:35 p.m. game at Toyota Center.

Game night festivities feature special presentations to active duty personnel, including a number of service members who have recently returned from Iraq. Military veterans will also be recognized throughout the game. Over 500 military themed t-shirts will be tossed out to the crowd.

In addition, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Texas, will have the Fallen Heroes Memorial Wall on display. The 28-foot long memorial lists the names and pictures of Texans who have made the ultimate sacrifice since the Gulf War.

The Aeros are reaching out to the Houston community to “sponsor a soldier” for the game. Companies or individuals who sponsor tickets, which are only $10 each, will be recognized on the Toyota Center video boards during the game, receive recognition on AEROS.COM, and have the opportunity to meet with the soldiers and their families at the game to say, “thank you,” for their service.
