HOUSTON --- The American Hockey League’s (AHL) Houston Aeros, affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild, today announced that Aeros General Manager Jim Mill has recalled center Rylan Kaip from the Bakersfield Condors (ECHL).
Kaip, 26 (3/19/84), has appeared in six games with Bakersfield this season, posting five points (4-1-5) and four penalty minutes (PIM). The 6-foot-1, 190-pound native of Radville, Saskatchewan, played the last two seasons with the Chicago Wolves (AHL). In 110 regular season games with the Wolves, he scored 14 points (5-9-14) and 76 PIM. Kaip wears jersey # 21 with the Aeros.
Prior to turning pro with the Wolves in 2008-09, Kaip played four seasons for the University of North Dakota, winning a WCHA Championship and earning a trip to the Frozen Four in the 2005-06 season. He was drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the ninth round (269th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
The Aeros (4-5-1-0, 9 points) host the Toronto Marlies tonight at 7:35 p.m. at Toyota Center.
