HOUSTON AEROS REASSIGN BRODA, ZINGONI TO BAKERSFIELD

HOUSTON --- Houston Aeros General Manager Jim Mill today announced the American Hockey League (AHL) club has reassigned forwards Joel Broda and Peter Zingoni to the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL.

Broda, 22 (11/23/85), appeared in 18 games for the Aeros this season and posted seven points (5-2=7) along with 16 penalty minutes (PIM). The 6-foot-1, 205-pound native of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, had points (1-1=2) in two straight from Oct. 24-29 and also scored twice, including his first pro goal, on Oct. 9. The first-year pro was signed as a free agent after a standout career in the Western Hockey League (WHL), including a 73-point (39-34=73) campaign in 2009-10 with the Calgary Hitmen.

Zingoni, 29 (4/28/81), played in one game with the Aeros this season, making his season debut on Dec. 4 after missing the first 25 games with an injury. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound Bridgeport, Conn., native has 223 games of AHL experience. His AHL career totals include 96 points (54-42=96) and 237 PIM. Zingoni was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the eighth round (232nd overall) of the 2000 NHL Draft and turned pro in 2004 after four seasons at Providence College (Hockey East).

The Aeros return home Friday, Dec. 10, to face the San Antonio Rampage in the annual Teddy Bear Toss game. Bring a stuffed animal to throw on the ice to help support the KHOU 11 News Spirit of Texas Toy Drive and receive two free Aeros tickets. The first 1,500 fans through the turnstiles at Toyota Center will receive a custom knit Houston Aeros scarf. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Puck drop is set for 7:35 p.m.
