HOUSTON --- The Houston Aeros set a season-high for shots in the second period with 23 but that effort couldn’t propel them past the Hamilton Bulldogs in a 5-0 loss Tuesday night at Toyota Center.

Bulldogs goalie Curtis Sanford turned aside all 38 shots he faced to hand the Aeros their fourth consecutive defeat.

Hamilton’s David Desharnais registered a four-point night, scoring a pair of shorthanded goals and adding two helpers. Ryan Russell collected two assists for the Bulldogs, while Dustin Boyd scored the only goal Hamilton needed 9:12 into the opening stanza.

Aeros goalie Anton Khudobin took the loss, stopping 12 of 17 shots in the first 33:02 of action. Matt Hackett replaced Khudobin in the second period and stopped 12 shots.

Houston returns home Sunday, Dec. 26 against Texas at 4:05 p.m. The annual Guns vs. Hoses game, featuring Houston Police vs. the Houston Fire Department, takes place immediately after.
