HOUSTON AEROS HELP SPREAD HOLIDAY CHEER

HOUSTON --- The Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL), the primary affiliate of the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League (NHL), kept busy in the Greater Houston Community this holiday season despite a schedule filled with December road games. 
 
The team helped support the KHOU Spirit of Texas Toy Drive with the annual Teddy Bear Toss on Dec. 10. Close to 1000 stuffed animals were thrown onto the ice when the Aeros scored their first goal of the night against San Antonio that evening. Once collected, the plush pals were delivered to the KHOU studios and then donated to the Salvation Army.

Team staff members and the Aero Dynamics also took part in the Houston Food Bank Board Day of Service on Dec. 18. Together with other Houston business leaders, over 11,000 boxes of food were distributed for use throughout the area.

Also on Dec. 18, team mascot Chilly and other team staff members attended the Kid’s Unlimited Christmas Party. Kid’s Unlimited is a grassroots organization with the hope to provide children a reprise from cancer treatment and an opportunity to be free of the harsh treatment regimen.

The Aeros also helped support the Bay Star Ambulance Stuff the Ambulance Toy Drive at the Dec. 21 home game. Fans were encouraged to bring a new toy to help benefit the MD Anderson Cancer Center.



On Dec. 22, Aeros players J.M. Daoust and Justin Falk, along with their spouses and team staff members visited the Open Door Mission to tour the facility, spend time and offer encouragement to the men undergoing treatment.
