OVERVIEW
The Houston Aeros and Hamilton Bulldogs clash in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton. The series is a best-of-seven series with a 2-3-2 format in which the Aeros have home ice advantage.
HOW THEY GOT HERE
Houston swept the Peoria Rivermen 4-0 in the first round and edged Milwaukee in seven games in the second round. Hamilton edged OKC 4-2 in round one and then defeated Manitoba in seven games in round two. Both teams won their respective Game 7’s in round two to reach the Conference Finals. For the Aeros, Casey Wellman’s deciding goal came with 1:21 left in regulation. Dustin Boyd scored for Hamilton six seconds into the third OT.
NOTABLES VERSUS HAMILTON
--- This is the fourth time the Aeros have faced a Canadian team in the playoffs. Houston defeated Hamilton in the 2003 Calder Cup Finals. The other two series were against Manitoba.

PLAYOFF HISTORY VERSUS HAMILTON
Houston meets Hamilton for a berth in the 2011 Calder Cup Finals, the teams’ first postseason collision since the Aeros won a seven-game Calder Cup Finals series in 2003. The Aeros are in the conference finals for the second time in three seasons and third time since joining the AHL. The Bulldogs are making their second straight appearance and fifth in the last 10 years.

Jon DiSalvatore scored twice including the game-winning goal as the Houston Aeros took a commanding 3-0 series lead with a 3-2 victory over the Hamilton Bulldogs in Game 3 of the American Hockey League’s Western Conference Finals on Tuesday at Copps Coliseum. Patrick O’Sullivan earned two assists including the primary helper on DiSalvatore’s game-winner. Houston’s Jared Spurgeon extended his scoring streak to four games with two assists while goaltender Matt Hackett improved to 5-2 on the road in the postseason with a 25-save effort.

The Aeros finished the regular season with a 46-28-1-5 (98 pts.) record for the No. 2 spot in the West Division. The Aeros had the most wins in both the division and the Western Conference. Only two other teams finished with more wins (WBS – 58, Portland -47). Milwaukee won the West Division title for the fourth time in eight years and topped 100 points for the fifth time since 2003-04. They finished with a 44-22-6-8 record.
