HOUSTON The Houston Aeros President Dave Barr announced today that the Minnesota Wild (National Hockey League) has reassigned defenseman Curtis Murphy. The Aeros also recalled right wing Tony Tuzzolino from the Louisiana IceGators (East Coast Hockey League).
Murphy, 27 (12/3/75), was recalled by the Wild on Sunday, December 15 and made his NHL debut on December 15 vs. Carolina. He leads AHL defensemen in goals (11) and is fifth in scoring with 20 points (11-9-20) in 27 contests. He ranks second on the Aeros in goals and third in plus/minus (+9).
Tuzzolino, 27 (10/9/75), began the season with Houston and collected four assists in 13 games with the Aeros. He was assigned to Louisiana in November and played in 12 games, scoring eight goals and seven assists for 15 points with 47 penalty minutes.
Both players will be in the line-up tonight as Houston hosts the Norfolk Admirals at 7:00 PM looking to break their five game winless streak. In other news, the Minnesota Wild placed C Rickard Wallin on injured reserve. Wallin played in 24 games with the Aeros before being recalled by Minnesota. He scored his first NHL goal in his first NHL game then was injured in Tuesdays contest.
