The Milwaukee Admirals have taken the first two games of the 2004 Calder Cup Finals. The Admirals whipped Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 8-4 Wednesday after a 2-1, overtime win Tuesday. Games 3, 4 and 5 are in WBS Friday, Sunday and Monday, respectively. Milwaukee, which knocked off Rochester four games to one in the Western Conference Finals, is trying to be the third consecutive former IHL team to win the Calder Cup after several teams joined the AHL upon the IHL's demise. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, meanwhile, outlasted Hartford in seven games in the East. Milwaukee has former Aeros Curtis Murphy and Jay Henderson, while WBS's assistant coach is Mike Yeo. Murphy and Henderson were teammates for the 2003 Aeros Calder Cup squad and are trying to claim their second straight Cup title.
