Several items of breaking news into the Scribe today.
First, fans can now download the Aeros schedule into their Outlook mail program. This allows you to have the schedule directly in your in-box, and also on your palm pilot or handheld device. It will even send you a reminder!
Heres how: Click here
Right-click, select Save Target As
To get the Aeros schedule onto your computer (or palm or handheld device), you first need to import the data into your Outlook calendar application.
For Microsoft Outlook:

Select "Comma Separated Values (Windows)" and click Next.
Find the 0506HOUcal.csv file you just downloaded and select "Do not import duplicate items" and click Next.
Select Calendar and click Next.
The next window will have a title that says 'The following actions will be performed:' above an option to 'Import "0506HOUcal.csv" into folder: Calendar.'

Youll read what Aeros fans think about the return of Curtis Murphy a bit later in SummerScribes mailbag segment. But the response has been overwhelming.
Picture Murphy and Kurtis Foster with his 101 mph slapper on the point on the power play, and tell the Scribe youre not excited.
Murphy and Joey Tetarenko are currently in town training hard for 2005-06.
The Scribe thinks that Curtis and Kurtis need a nickname. Any ideas? Submit them here.
The Wild announced this morning that Rickard Wallin has been signed to a 2005-06 contract. Heres wishing Wally all the luck in making the big club for good.

Manchester, Manitoba get new bosses
Manchester went to Jim Hughes, an assistant under Boudreau, for its head coaching position. Hughes was Boudreaus assistant the last two seasons, and also was an assistant with the Boston Bruins and Orlando Solar Bears. Derek Clancey, one of the good guys in minor league hockey, will assist Hughes after spending the last two seasons in ECHL Reading.
Manitoba went to former Montreal Canadiens head coach Alain Vigneault, who was most recently with Prince Edward Island of the QMJHL. An assistant will be named shortly.
That leaves one team without a head coach your Houston Aeros. It wont be much longer, fans, the Scribe promises
NHL finds a new TV home
The NHL signed a deal with Comcast this week to put 58 games throughout the season on Outdoor Life Network, mostly on Mondays and Tuesdays.
The joke around the Aeros office this week, knowing that Comcast is based in Philadelphia, was how many Flyers games will we see? Well, Opening Night, well get the Flyers and Rangers. So those of us in the States will have to have the Center Ice package, apparently, in order to see Sidney Crosbys NHL debut with the Penguins.
Comcast is also big in Chicago and Washington, so it will be interesting to see when the full schedule comes out, what kind of variance there is.
But the best news of all is that a)The NHL is back and b)We'll see at LEAST 58 games of it.
Robinson to Boston
Nathan Robinson, who may have won the 2004 Fastest Skater competition at the AHL All-Star Game if he hadnt seriously injured his leg while participating, joined the Boston Bruins organization this week.
Robinson, previously under contract with Detroit, was loaned to Syracuse by Grand Rapids late last season. Robinson hasnt been quite the same player since the injury, and heres wishing him success out East.
Iowa gets tough
The Dallas Stars brought in Mike Siklenka and Garrett Burnett, both hulking bodies who should put on some shows with the Aeros heavyweights if they wind up in Iowa.
Siklenka (6-foot-5, 225 pounds) had 156 PIMs in only 39 games in Austria last season. He played with Utah in 2003-04. Burnett (6-foot-3, 235 pounds) played in the NHL with Anaheim in 2003-04 but spent most of the previous five seasons in the AHL, including a 346-PIM campaign with Hartford in 2002-03. He suited up during the lockout with UHL Danbury for seven games (184 PIMs).

AEROS SIGN D CURTIS MURPHY
WHOOO HOOOO ! ! ! ! !
WAY TO GO AEROS ! ! ! !
I have not been this excited about an Aeros signing in years ! ! ! !
No offense to Tets and Wanny, but the signing of Curtis Murphy by the Aeros has got to be the best hockey-related news I've heard since it was announced last year that Josh was coming back following his injury! I am SOOOO doing the happy-hockey fan dance! Good job Aeros!
Now this is great news. It will be great to have Curtis back in Houston.
The Scribe agrees with everyone! And judging by some phone calls I received this week from media around the AHL and other hockey publications, so does the rest of the hockey world.
The Scribe takes off for a couple days in southern California to get rejuvenated for 2005-06, so e-mail questions may not get answered until late next week. Click here to email the Scribe. Thanks for reading!
