AEROS SIGN VETERAN FORWARD DASILVA
Houston Returns Home to Toyota Center on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Houston, TX - Houston Aeros General Manager Jim Mill announced on Saturday the team has signed right wing Dan DaSilva to a professional tryout agreement (PTO). Mill also announced forward Phil Fox has been released from his PTO.
DaSilva is an eight-year pro with 300 games of AHL experience. The Saskatoon, SK native has played in 33 games this season for the ECHL’s Ontario Reign. He leaves the team after placing fourth in overall scoring with 42 points, off 15 goals and 27 assists. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound right wing has played in the AHL for Albany, Lake Erie and Worcester, scoring 66 career goals and adding 88 career assists for 154 points for his AHL career. He spent last year in the KHL, picking up one assist in 15 games with Poprad Lev.
The 28-year old Fox made his AHL debut without a point for the Aeros on Friday night in Oklahoma City. He returns to the Fort Worth Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL). In 30 games with Fort Worth, he had 18 goals and 26 points. Fox was second on the team in goals and seventh overall in points, to go along with a +12. The 5-foot-11, 205-pounder has played in 89 career games with Brahmas over two years, scoring 37 goals and totaling 69 points. He played collegiately at Northern Michigan University from 2007-11.
The Aeros return home on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 7:05 p.m. as Houston hosts Oklahoma City at Toyota Center. The team will celebrate Boy Scout Night by handing out 2012-13 team posters to the first 2,000 fans, compliments of Warehouse Pool Supply.
